The one scene I didn't like.

I LOVED this film... The Last Jedi had HEART. And with more time I'll share more thoughts on that, but I for now I'll share this youtube video of the only scene I thought was kind of weird in this film:

Yeah, I agree with you Dreamaster, that scene is a bit too much. I'll probably never like the scene but I'll learn to accept it eventually.
I also thought Laura Dern's plan to just fly 'til they ran out of fuel was kinda stupid. Her plan was no plan at all?
I really enjoyed the movie otherwise.

You must have went to the bathroom during that part of the film where it explains her plan was to get them close to the abandoned base and fly to them in the little ships cloaked. But she didn't want to share the plan "because she didn't want to look like a hero" or something goofy like that is what Leia said. The plan would have worked fine except for the Del Torro character ratted them out in order to get out of jail.

First time I saw the film I though Del Torro was a plant from the get go, but he wasn't. It was the second viewing tonight where I realized he didn't turn on them until they all got caught. And they got caught because of the black bb8 looking droid.

My oldest daughter saw it tonight and she was LIT UP for this film. She said before the movie "I don't know why, but what would really make me happy is if Kylo and Rey team up." Man it was hard to keep a straight face. When it actually happened I thought she was going to come out of her seat.

Favorite part of this film for me is that it didn't end on a cliff hanger. 7 and 8 work well to tell a pretty effective story. So I guess 9 will just be a nice JJ Abrams action flick to tidy up the loose ends.

Her plan, I believe, was to get close enough to Krayt so they could flee to the abandoned rebel base on cloaked escape pods. They make a point in the movie how Poe was wrong to go against Holdo because he should have trusted her leadership because she did have a good plan in place (presumably) all or mostly along.

Why no one let Poe in on the plan until after he is stunned by Leia, though, is left unsatisfactory, to the opinion of some, unanswered.

Apparently it was pretty need-to-know only, because as soon as Poe found out, he blabbed it to Finn in earshot of DJ, who promptly sold it to the First Order and cost even more lives.

Watched it in IMAX (2D, not 3) today and loved it- but agree with Dreamaster, the Lea spacewalk scene was odd, and really didn't serve a purpose, since Lea ended up in a coma. I guess she woke up to stun Poe, but honestly her character didn't serve much plotline purpose (of course, she added emotional purpose) after the bridge explosion.

I also felt a little let down by the Snoke story, since I was hopeful his character would carry through to the final act, and extend Kylo's internal conflict, rather than just get lopped in half without much fanfare.

    Otherwise, fantastic space wizard swashbuckling!

Why does that scene remind me of the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella?

Yeah, I didn't like this scene much either. What began as a nice send off for Leia/tearful tribute to Carrie suddenly turned into something rather silly.

I really enjoyed the rest of the film though and, perhaps more importantly, my kids loved it.

I've seen Outland, so I happen to know that Leia would have exploded instantly. ;-)
Very much agree about the kids loving it -- all of mine did.

Yes, but Alec Guinness returned for two more films after Kenobi died, so I doubt (hope) we haven't seen the last of him.

I think people seem to be forgetting that! And I loved Luke's line to Kylo: "Strike me down in anger and I'll always be with you, just like your father."

Yeah, I realised that, I don't think we've seen the last of him yet.

She might not (depends on how explosive the decompression was, which given it was an explosion...hehe), but she'd have less than 10 seconds of consciousness if she didn't :p

Force ghost Yoda needs to be semi-transparent...just sayin'. If you're gonna bring back Force ghosts, at least stick with the formula!

Maybe Yoda's powers are greater and he can appear opaque now?
Every episode since Star Wars has presented new force abilities for Jedi and Sith.
In Empire, Jedi can move things without touching them. Ben appears as a ghost. Luke can communicate with Leia telepathically.
In Jedi the Emperor can shoot lightning bolts out of his hands.
I TFA Kylo can stop blaster fire in mid flight.
Now in TLJ we have new abilities now too. Don't forget Yoda can affect the real world now (created lightning).
Their powers shouldn't stagnate. New abilities are exciting for me.

"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine"

I haven't imagined all their abilities yet.

JasonA, yeah... That means that Luke could perhaps rematerialize in the next movie just as if nothing happened...only that he is now 100% invincible also (and more himself)...just like his "hologram" at the very end (he touched Leia physically).
